Born on 5 August 1979 in Otwock.
MA from the Department of Law, European Higher School of Law and Administration in Warsaw (EWSPA); he completed Postgraduate European Financial, Economic and Legal Relations Studies at the Warsaw School of Economics.
He joined the National Bank of Poland in 2003 as Bank Assistant and subsequently worked as Inspector, Specialist, Senior Specialist, and Chief Specialist.
In 2003 – 2010, member of the Securities Settlement Systems Team and subsequently the Securities Settlement Systems Division at the Payment System Department of the National Bank of Poland.
His responsibilities include analysing securities settlement systems, issuing opinions on capital market regulations, and performing tasks related to NBP’s ownership supervision of KDPW S.A.
In 2008, he completed a six-month internment at the European Central Bank, DG Payment Systems and Market Infrastructure, TARGET2-Securities Division.
Since October 2009, Maciej Szymański heads the Securities Settlement Systems Division at the Payment System Department of the National Bank of Poland.
Since March 2010, he is Secretary to the TARGET2-Securities – T2S National Users Group (NUG_PL).
