KDPW and KDPW_CCP are Partners of the European Financial Congress
The European Financial Congress organised by the Gdańsk Institute of Market Economics (IBnGR) – Gdańsk Academy of Banking takes place in Sopot on 3-5 June 2019.
The 9th European Financial Congress will discuss how to make the future of finance and the economy stable, modern, and fair.
The challenges and risks faced by the financial sector have many reasons: economic, climate-related, geopolitical, social, technological. The capital market is a topic always present on the agenda of the European Financial Congress.
Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych and the clearing house KDPW_CCP are Partners of the European Financial Congress. KDPW hosts the debate on Capital Markets for the Productivity and Competitiveness of the Polish Economy, co-organised with the Chamber of Brokerage Houses (IDM) on 4 June 2019.
The speakers will discuss the objectives and priorities of the Capital Market Development Strategy in support of the development of the Polish capital market in view of the challenges faced by the Polish economy, as well as the key measures necessary to increase the share of the local capital market in the financing of Polish companies, in particular innovative firms. The debate will also focus on the importance of local capital and local institutional investors in view of the challenges posed by international competition, as well as the models of financing of the economy and the single banking licence.

On 5 June 2019, CEO Maciej Trybuchowski and Vice-President Dr Paweł Górecki will participate in the Capital Market Roundtable Discussion.
The discussion will focus on the role and the importance of the principle of proportionality in financial market regulation. It will present examples of disproportionate EU regulations, deficient implementation of EU regulations in national law, as well as goldplating which curbs competitiveness of financial institutions and makes the local market less attractive. Another strand in the debate is to propose measures necessary to improve the quality of the institutional setup of supervision over the financial market, to make the financial market more competitive, and to enhance trust in financial market institutions.
The debate will present examples of financial market supervision models in several countries of the world in order to highlight solutions which could be considered for implementation in Poland.
The roundtable discussion of financial market reformers was inspired by issues involved in the drafting of financial market regulation, its implementation in national law and practical application, as well as the functioning of the financial market supervision system.
